Osimhen keeps being linked to Man United who is in the market for a new centre forward. The Serie A top goalscorer has impressed a lot in the league and in the Champions League recently and therefore we sat down to have a talk with the former Manchester United defender, Paul Parker, who shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen.
But Osimhen is not the only player who has been linked to Man United recently. A lot of rumours are circulating around potential signings for the club and we asked Parker about the players that have been the topic of the conversations recently.
Victor Osimhen – the centre forward Man United need so badly?
“Victor Osimhen is very dynamic and I really like him as a player. He is quick and strong but it’s tough to move from the Serie A to the Premier League.”
“Not because the Premier League is much better than the Italian league but because of the tempo in the league. The tempo is much higher here than in any other league so he will have to adjust to that.”
“But as I said, he is dynamic which makes it easier for him. Lukaku was the top goalscorer in the Serie A and he wasn’t a success when returning to the Premier League but Osimhen is a different type of player, so I believe he will be able to adapt quite well.”
“Aubameyang is not good enough to Man United”
Aubameyang had had quite a nightmare loan spell at Chelsea, so the centre-forward will most likely have to find a new club in the summer. But Man United shouldn’t consider him as their new centre forward according to Parker.
“Aubameyang is a bit of a rogue but I don’t think that would be the issue. Erik ten Hag would be able to manage him as one of the few managers out there like Sir Alex Ferguson did with Eric Cantona.”
“The problem is that he is not good enough to play for Man United. Simple as that. He has been terrible at Chelsea and it would be beyond my mind if he was ever going to be mentioned as a potential Man United signing. I don´t think Erik ten Hag is even considering the opportunity.”
“I think Aubameyang will have a very tough time finding a new club. If he wants to stay in the Premier League then it´s not going to be for a team that is competing for the title.”
“I don’t think Man United should sign Ansu Fati”
Ansu Fati has been heavily linked to Man United but Parker doesn´t think that Man United should target the talented winger as the club already has too many wide players at the club.
“I don´t think that Ansu Fati would bring anything to Man United that they don’t already have. I think every single Man United fan would be shocked if that transfer happened.”
“Man United already has an abundance of wide players at the club and a lot of them are young. And Ansu Fati haven´t shown at Barcelona that he is able to perform consistently. There has been a lot of talk but you also need to walk the walk.”
“There are other positions that need to be strengthened, so a new wide player would not be a priority. And if they really want a new wide player it should be a proven player that is one of the best at his position in the world.”
